Quote from Summary of Inspection Findings, 23rd and 24th September, 2009.
"The school shows a high level of commitment to promoting health and wellbeing. It achieved Health Promoting School status at commended level in 2007 in the local authority scheme. Continued progress is being made in working towards excellence. School improvement plans prioritise the further development of health promotion. In planning for health, the school works effectively with health partners and cluster primaries and is developing the involvement of young people and parents.
Young people recognise that the school places a high priority on health. They are very knowledgeable about how the school is promoting health and wellbeing. Examples of activities include the introduction of a healthier range of foods and drinks in the canteen, involvement in the Rock Challenge and health fairs, direct access to counselling and support, induction events on drugs and safe driving and looking after a virtual baby."

Welcome
Welcome to Turriff Academy website. I am Mrs Susan Ramsden and I have been recently appointed to the post of Head Teacher at Turriff Academy. For the past 7 years I was Head Teacher at Peterhead Academy and previous to that I was a Depute Head Teacher in Aberdeen City.
I am delighted to be taking up the post of Head Teacher at Turriff Academy. The school has an excellent reputation in Aberdeenshire and a strong tradition of providing high quality teaching, learning and support for its pupils. I have links with this area going back many years as my first few years of schooling were at Fyvie Primary School while my father taught Art at Turriff Academy. For the past 12 years I have lived in Banff. I am honoured to be given the opportunity to continue and to build on Turriff Academy’s excellent reputation.
At Turriff Academy we are committed to providing a secure, pleasant, caring and stimulating environment where pupils are encouraged to achieve their full potential. The values which underpin this commitment are equality, fairness, hard work, respect, honesty and ambition. As a school we strive to create a climate of mutual respect, where teaching and resources are of the highest quality and where each individual develops the confidence, the ability and a range of skills to equip them for making a positive contribution to society.
I look forward to working with the pupils, parents, staff and local community in the years to come.
As you browse through our website, I hope you will gain a flavour of the ethos and educational aims of Turriff Academy as well as glean some useful information.

Citizenship
The values associated with citizenship are fostered in a variety of ways at the Academy, both formal and informal. The importance of working with others and developing positive relationships, personal, social, in the working environment and with the community are encouraged at all times through the subject curriculum and the day to day life of the school.
The Academy fosters a secure, friendly and supportive environment; by encouraging and praising pupils we aim to develop a positive partnership that can help pupils to become successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens. Our policy of Promoting Positive Behaviour, our Praise Point Scheme and Praise Point Certificates all encourage pupils to participate in the process of learning and the school community.
To help ensure that all pupils have this equality of opportunity we have developed values and standards of conduct and behaviour, both in the classroom and the general school environment, which support these aims. These can be found by using the link below.
