Message from the Chair:
I’d like to introduce myself as Chair of Turriff Academy Parent Council (TAPC) for the 2024/2025 school year, following the AGM on 10th June 2024. This is my first year as Chair. I have 1 child who currently attends Turriff Academy.
TAPC is a committee of parents/carers/guardians who are the official organization of the parent body in Turriff Academy. In a nutshell, we are the link between parents/carers/guardians and Turriff Academy.
We represent the interests of all parents/carers/guardians of Turriff Academy. We support learning and school improvement and are involved in the recruitment of senior staff, school inspections and the development of the Turriff Academy Improvement Planning. As long as you have a young person who attends Turriff Academy, you can become involved in their learning and provide a voice for them. We want to hear from you.
We have 4 meetings per year in school and virtually via Microsoft Teams plus the AGM. If weather is not good, the meeting is held virtually only.
2024/2025 dates are 10th June 2024, 23rd September 2024, 25th January 2025, 12th March 2025 and AGM 11th June 2025 in which all parents/carers/guardians are welcome to attend.
The Head teacher, School Captains and Local Councillor representatives are also invited and attend each meeting.
We cover all school topics such as staffing, building works and events that are happening within the school. We do not discuss individual pupils.
Please look out for the notifications via the Parent Portal and on the School Facebook page and contact either the school or directly with TAPC to receive the Teams Link to join the meeting virtually.
Minutes of our meetings are available on the Parent tab on the school website (under ’Parent Council’).
Friends of Turriff Academy (FOTA) is a subgroup of TAPC. FOTA is a group of parents/carers/guardians whom you may have seen serving Teas/Coffees at school events. They also hold other fundraising events to benefit Turriff Academy. Please look out for the coffee morning fundraiser that will be in the Legion in 2025.
If anyone has any creative ideas or suggestions to raise some funds for Turriff Academy please get in touch.
FOTA always are in need for volunteers to help organise and attend events. Without your support, the school will not receive any additional funds or donations and with budgets being tighter than ever, we need to support in any way we can. All fund raised money is donated back into Turriff Academy and whenever we are contacted to provide a donation we will help. The ASL department received donation to replenish their classroom stock boxes, Math Department for an App used by our young persons and we have been set a massive task to fund raise for the improvements to the hall.
It is always good to see new faces, and we can always improve on what we do, so if you want to get involved come along to a meeting or contact us on turriffacademypc@hotmail.com.
