The library has recently been awarded core accreditation from The Scottish Book Trust and Turriff Academy has been named as an official 'Reading School'. More information can be found here: Reading For Pleasure - Accreditation Programme - Reading Schools. This involved various activities that included the whole school promoting a culture of reading. We had an author visit, set up a reading club and pupils regularly made displays for the library. We are continuing on our reading school journey aiming to reach silver level next!
Our school librarian encourages everyone to enjoy reading in a variety of ways including supporting teachers and pupils. The library is used by staff and pupils for reading, research, senior study, careers and future planning along with hosting games, clubs and meetings. Pupils will use their YoungScot card to access library resources both online and in person. Faye Craib is the School Librarian and she is happy to help with any queries you may have.
The library is well stocked with junior and young adult fiction, dyslexic friendly books, speedy reads, graphic novels, adult fiction, non-fiction, local studies, careers material, SQA study materials and magazines. We even have our own website where you can view all our full catalogue of books! Your School Library | Live Life Aberdeenshire

The library is involved in Transition events to familiarise pupils and their families with the library and its facilities while pupils are in Primary 7 and we welcome everyone! It is a great place for new pupils to feel safe, welcomed and part of our library community.
In S1 all pupils get the opportunity to use Accelerated Reader – a great chance to improve literacy and reading. Parents are encouraged to help their children by monitoring their progress online and by reading along with them. Research shows that at least 20 minutes a day spent reading for pleasure helps literacy.
